Conic Reducing Tee at 90-

Degrees

Information Required: OD of large

insulation, OD of small insulation, true

height measurement, OD of the insulation

where the cone enters the body of the

fitting.

Step 1: Draw a vertical line with a 90-degree

horizontal line. The vertical line will be the

centre line.

Step 2: Draw a circle using half the OD of

the large insulation, then measure from the

top of the arc to a point on the center line

using the true height of the fitting and at

this point draw a 90-degree horizontal line.

Step 3: Where the true height point

intersects the center line draw a half circle

using the ODI of the smallest part of the

cone.

Step 4: Trisect the quarter circle on the

right side and from points on the arc draw

90 degree lines to the smaller diameter line.

Number these points on the diameter line

as shown.

Step 5: Draw a

90-degree horizontal line from the top of

the circle and measure half the width of the

conic as it enters the body of the fitting as

shown in figure 2. Transfer this

measurement from the center line to the

right on the line you have just drawn.

Step 6: From the point determined in step 5

to the OD of the smaller arc, draw a line to

form an apex on the vertical line and an

intersecting point on the larger arc. Mark

this line A.

Step 7: From the apex just formed, draw

lines through points 2 and 3 on the

horizontal line of the small arc to

intersecting points on the large arc.

Step 8: At these intersecting points on the

large arc, draw 90 degree lines out to line A

and label as shown.

Step 9: For the stretch-out set the dividers

at the apex and point 4 on the small arc and

swing an arc, this arc will be line 4.

Step 10: Set the dividers at points 1 and 2

on the small arc and transfer 13 walkout

points to line 4 (12 for the fitting and 1 for

the lap allowance).

Step 11: Set the dividers at the apex and

point A in figure 2 and swing another arc.

This will be arc line A.

Step 12: From the apex to walkout points

on the line 4, draw lines through to points

on arc line A, label as shown in figure 3.

Step 13: Take a measurement from A to B

on the outside line that runs from the apex

to the large arc in figure 2 and transfer this

measurement to all B lines on the stretch

out. Draw the same points C &D, but take

all of the measurements from point A.

Step 14: Connect all the points and allow for

laps, tabs and bead.
