Round to Square
Information Required: True height, square
dimensions, round dimensions
Step 1: Draw an elevation view of the fitting
(include insulation).
Step 2: Draw plan view. Trisect the top right
quarter circle and label as shown.
Step 3: From the plan view, take the
measurements from point A to points 1-4.
Step 4: Draw lines from the apex to these
points. These lines are the slant heights.
Step 5: For the stretch-out, draw a line the
exact length of a square side and label the
ends A. From the elevation view set
dividers, the apex and points 1-4 on the
elevation view. Transfer this length to the
stretch-out by using both A points as an
apex. Swing arcs, where they intersect is
point 1.
Step 6: Set dividers from 1 to 2 on the plan
view and swing arcs to each side of point 1
on the stretch-out.
Step 7: From the elevation view, set
dividers at the apex and points 2-3 on the
elevation view and transfer this measure to
the stretch-out again using both A points as
an apex. Where these arcs meet is point 2.
Step 8: Use the same methods from steps 6
and 7 to form points 3 and 4.
Step 9: Draw an arc to each side of point A
using ½ the measure of a square side.
Step 10: From the elevation view, set the
dividers at the apex and point S4 and
transfer to the stretch-put using points 4 as
the apex points. Where they intersect with
the last arc, are the S points.
Step 11: Connect all points to form half of
the fitting. Add for lap, crimp and bead.
