Section 32: Diagram for a Conic Reducing Tee at 90 Degrees

Required Information

  • Height
  • True height

Formulas and Measurements

  • Mark the true height on the right vertical line Trisect the bottom right quarter circle into equal parts and label Set dividers at Point A and Point 1 and swing an arc from the Base Line to the right vertical line.
  • Points 1 and 4 intersect as do Points 2 and Set dividers at Point S and Point 4 and transfer to the horizontal line going from bottom right Point A to the left.
  • These will be the slant heights For the Stretch-out, draw a line the exact length of a square side and label both Points A From the Plan View, set dividers at the Apex and Points 1- 4 on the horizontal line.
  • Transfer these points to the layout from both Points A to an intersecting point on the Layout to form Point 1 on the Layout Using a second pair of dividers, take a set from 1 to 2 on the quarter circle of the Plan View and on the Layout draw arcs to both sides of From the Plan View, set dividers at the Apex and Point 2-3 on the horizontal line and transfer them to the Layout from both A Points to intersect with last arcs drawn Do the same to obtain Points 3 and 4 on the Layout From Points A, draw arcs to either side using half the distance of a square side From the Plan View set dividers at the Apex and the S-4 Point and from the 4 Points on the Layout draw intersecting arcs to the last arcs drawn.

Procedure

  1. Step 1

Draw a Plan View and letter as shown. Mark the true height on the right vertical line

  2. Step 2

Trisect the bottom right quarter circle into equal parts and label

  3. Step 3

Set dividers at Point A and Point 1 and swing an arc from the Base Line to the right vertical line. Do the same for Point 2. Points 1 and 4 intersect as do Points 2 and

  4. Step 4

Set dividers at Point S and Point 4 and transfer to the horizontal line going from bottom right Point A to the left. Label the points on the horizontal line as shown

  5. Step 5

Draw lines from the Apex (true height point) to all points on the horizontal line. These will be the slant heights

  6. Step 6

For the Stretch-out, draw a line the exact length of a square side and label both Points A

  7. Step 7

From the Plan View, set dividers at the Apex and Points 1- 4 on the horizontal line. Transfer these points to the layout from both Points A to an intersecting point on the Layout to form Point 1 on the Layout

  8. Step 8

Using a second pair of dividers, take a set from 1 to 2 on the quarter circle of the Plan View and on the Layout draw arcs to both sides of

  9. Step 9

From the Plan View, set dividers at the Apex and Point 2-3 on the horizontal line and transfer them to the Layout from both A Points to intersect with last arcs drawn

  10. Step 10

Do the same to obtain Points 3 and 4 on the Layout

  11. Step 11

From Points A, draw arcs to either side using half the distance of a square side

  12. Step 12

From the Plan View set dividers at the Apex and the S-4 Point and from the 4 Points on the Layout draw intersecting arcs to the last arcs drawn. These points will be Points S on the Layout

  13. Step 13

Connect all the points to form half the fitting

  14. Step 14

Add for laps and notches where required. NTS
